Three SSC Girls make the Missouri 95 State ODP Team

Nicole Ortega (Catholic HS), Kasey Opfer (Glendale HS) and Aspen Hawkins (Central HS) (Alternate) have made the 95 Girls ODP State team earning them the right to declare themselves one of the top 20 girls soccer players in the state at their age. All three of them are also teammates on the SSC 95/96 team. They will travel to Regional Camp in Illinois in July to compete against the other 13 state teams in the Midwest Region II and to potentially become selected to the Region II ODP team.

“I am very excited for the girls and I am positive that they will represent themselves, SSC, and Southwest Missouri very well. They all have a great passion to work and compete at a game they love and it would not surprise me to see one or more of them be selected for a Regional team or National team event.” said Cory Carr coach with SSC.

The Springfield SC has always made it an important goal to provide whatever means necessary for players to improve. If soccer players in the Ozarks have a goal of being the best players possible, then they know they can get there through the avenues provided by SSC.

“The idea of having girls from the Springfield SC make a State ODP team is awesome. It’s a true testament to the hard work the girls have put in over the years. It’s also a great statement for the club in general and the effort from the coaches as well. We’ve had boys make State and Regional teams over the years. Our continued goal of improving upon this list to include many more girls, and get them to the Regional team (and National team for both genders) is energized even more.” said Eric Sorlie, Director of Soccer Operations for the Springfield SC.
