PRESS RELEASE - The Springfield Soccer Club found plenty of action during the Indoor II Session at Lake Country Soccer. After competing during the first session in their own Indoor InnerLeague players from the club took their skills to the local league to compete against outside competition for Session II. With several teams play up an age group to find appropriate levels of competition the session was a challenge. Also, the SSC 95/96 I Girls played in a boys division so they could duplicate the upcoming spring season in the Heartland Soccer League (Kansas City) where they will compete in the 1st Division. “We look at the indoor session as a tremendous opportunity for our players to make individual improvements with their overall game. Competing for indoor championships and tournaments is not our focus. Being prepared for the spring outdoor season and making players better is the primary goal. The great thing is when that is your primary goal you will find a lot of success on the field as well.” said Jeremy Alumbaugh Director of Soccer Operations for the Springfield Soccer Club.

All of the Senior Boys Teams U15, 16, 17, 18 do not participate in the local indoor leagues. Instead players are divided up into teams where they compete against each other in an InnnerLeague format. It is common for local college players and SSC alumni on break to come out and participate as well. In the past Jack Jewsbury with the Kansas City Wizards has used it to stay sharp in the off-season, this year Jewsbury was in California with the U.S. Men’s National Team. Games in this InnerLeague are competitive as the top players from around the area are involved. “It’s a fun and competitive league for all of the players.” commented Cory Carr Senior Boys Program Director for the Springfield Soccer Club. “Usually, some of the younger players are a bit intimidated early on, but they find their feet and the older players provide good
leadership to them.” InnerLeague play also consists of some younger players who have been invited to play with the oldest age groups in the club. Even with a primary emphasis on player development during the Indoor Session II at Lake Country Soccer the Springfield Soccer Club still walked away with a number of league championships. Congratulations to the Lake Country Soccer Indoor Session II Champions.
