SSC Team Camp – August 9-11, 2010

Message  From The Camp Director
(DOWNLOAD Printable flyer)

As the fall season quickly approaches now is the time to plan for how our players and teams will get prepared. The Springfield S.C. Team Camp is the perfect answer. All players in our club will have the  opportunity to be trained by our outstanding staff.

The idea behind the Springfield S.C. Team Camp is for all of our teams to train together before the fall season begins. mandatory, however all players are strongly encouraged to attend! Those teams and players who took part in Team Camp last year were more prepared than those who didn’t and it showed on the field. forward to seeing you in August!!!

Eric Sorlie
Director of Soccer Operations

Camp Philosophy

The Springfield S.C. Team Camp is an excellent way for individuals, teams, and the entire club to prepare for the fall season. After a relaxing summer the Springfield S.C. Team Camp gives players from our club an opportunity to get a jump-start on the competition as we prepare for league and tournament play.

Each day players will receive top-rate instruction from the Springfield S.C. Coaching Staff. Topics will be divided into two categories: individual skill and team tactics.

This allows both individuals and teams the opportunity to be prepared for the fall season

Camp will be held on August 9-11, 2010 for ages U9-15  with the following sessions available:

Session I 5:30-7:00pm

Springfield Soccer Club win MRL First Division; get promoted to Premier Division

PRESS RELEASE - This past weekend saw 3 teams travel to Overland Park, KS to play games in the Midwest Regional League (MRL). The 15I, 16, and 17 boy’s teams all currently play in the First Division.  The weather was perfect for playing soccer.

The 17 boys played their first game of the year against Springfield Fire (IL) and came away with a 4-1 victory. That’s a great way to start things off! The 16 boys played twice and came away with a split weekend. On Saturday they defeated KCFC (KS) 3-2 on a great goal right at the end of the game. Sunday saw things go the other way with a 2-1 loss to Omaha FC (NE). They played very well and were unlucky not to get 2 wins on the weekend.

The 15I boys played their last 3 games of the season. On Saturday they defeated NFC Qdoba (NE) 3-1 in the morning followed by a 4-0 win over Kansas City United (KS). Sunday saw the boys go up against the Kansas Rush (KS) and come away with a 5-0 win. That win put the boys at 6-0 on the season and a lock for first place. This marks only the 2nd time that a SSC team has won the MRL First Division. SSC has also won the Premier Division 1 time. This time around it also means that they are automatically promoted to the MRL Premier Division. This is the 2nd team in SSC history to participate in the Premier Division, the other being the SSC 90/91 boys.

“It’s a fantastic moment to win any league. It makes it even better that this time it is the Midwest Regional League and the boys are promoted into the Premier Division where every game will feel like a State Cup game. It feels wonderful to have SSC once again represented among the elite. It speaks volumes to the work the boys have put in over the past months and years. We can enjoy this for a bit, before we get back into it and prepare for State Cup,” commented Eric Sorlie, Director of Soccer Operations. “I’m also looking forward to watching the other teams finish their MRL season on a strong note as there is still a lot to play for in both divisions”.

Ozarks Coca-Cola/Dr. Pepper Cup Full of Highlights for Springfield Soccer Club

PRESS RELEASE - During the weekend of April 10-11, 2010 the Springfield Soccer Club once again made its’ presence known at a local tournament. With several teams competing in the Ozarks Coca-Cola Dr. Pepper Cup hosted by Lake Country Soccer the familiar red and white uniforms were prominent on the fields. The weather conditions on the weekend were beautiful for early spring in Southwest Missouri.

While it is still early in the spring outdoor season many teams and players seem to be hitting their amid season form already. “All of the training teams have been putting in during the indoor season was showing that it paid off. A few teams even practiced during their spring break to be ready for the tournament and that shows dedication.” said Eric Sorlie, Director of Soccer Operations for the Springfield Soccer Club.

The SSC 99/00 Girls took home 2nd Place in the U10 Girls 8 v 8 Bracket. The SSC 94/95 II Boys also brought home 2nd Place in the U15/16 Boys Bracket. Other notable performances were the SSC 98/99 White Girls in the U11 Girls bracket as they finished in third place.

Thanks, to all players, parents, teams and coaches for a fantastic weekend of soccer right here in our own backyard. Without the support of Lake Country Soccer and the Ozarks Coca- Cola/Dr. Pepper Company events like this would be impossible in our community.

Springfield Soccer Club Champions at prestigious SLSG Boys College Showcase

PRESS RELEASE - During the weekend of April 10-11, 2010 the Springfield Soccer Club once again made its’ presence known at a regional tournament. Three teams competed in the SLSG Boys College Showcase, which is highly regarded as the top boys college showcase in the Midwest region. The weather was perfect all weekend long with the sun shining and temps in the 70’s.

The 92/93 boys had a tough weekend result wise at 1-2, but for their first games since March 7 competed quite well. Their competition consisted of Ajax (MO), Dynamo Katner (IN), and CUP Crew Jr.s (OHS) which is an USD Academy program. Many college coaches walked away with a list of players they are looking forward to watching again. The 93/94 boys did very well. They captured the title by winning all 3 games. Add to it that they gave up no goals and things are looking pretty good going forward. They played against some top competition in Lou Fusz SC, regional power Yahara (WI), and the Chicago Fire Jrs. Development Academy (another USDA program). The 94/95I boys captured the title as well by going 3-0. They played against the Eclipse Select North (IL), SLSG Premier (USDA program), and Eclipse Select (IL), an MRL Premier Division team.

“It’s always great to win a tournament, especially one that’s as prestigious as the SLSG College Showcase. This has always been regarded as the top showcase in the Midwest and one that college coaches mark on their calendar. And to win 2 divisions speaks volumes for the work that the coaches and players have put into their game,” commented Eric Sorlie, Director of Soccer Operations. A big thank you goes out to the players, parents, and coaches for traveling up to St. Louis, and taking on the task of competing in such a wonderful tournament. You all represented the Springfield Soccer Club very well!
